My name is Kieran Cairns, I’m 16 years old and I am the new modern apprentice at the Owl & Pussycat Nursery. I enjoy travelling and visiting lots of new places with my family, my favourite place I have traveled to is New York City where I got to experience time square, watch a show on broadway and walk over the Brooklyn bridge. Some of My hobbies are volunteering at my local boys brigade, cooking and going to the gym.
The reason I have chosen to undertake an apprenticeship in early years is because I have always had a passion for working with children to help them learn and develop. I would also like to become a primary teacher in the future, so I felt it would be an amazing opportunity to work in a nursery to get experience and to get a better understand of the transition from nursery to primary 1. Since starting my modern apprenticeship I have had so many amazing moments in the nursery such as building bonds with the children to helping them learn through different activities and tasks. One of my absolute favourite moments of my apprenticeship so far was my very first day because form the minute I walked in the children and staff were so welcoming and all of the kids were so excited to have me in the nursery and just wanted to know lots of different things about me.
